IRONHELM Fitness Wins Huumans $5000 Founders Choice Award
This past Canada Day, something happened that we never saw coming
When IRONHELM Fitness entered Huumans' national "My Canada. My Story." campaign, we did exactly what every small business owner in Canada was invited to do: we picked up a phone, hit record, and told our story in one minute. We answered why we started, what we've built, and who we serve.
"My Canada. My Story." is a national campaign by Huumans. A free platform built to give Canada's small business owners the edge they deserve, celebrating the humans behind the more than one million small businesses that make up this country. From June 15 to Canada Day, owners from every province and every industry shared 60-second videos about their journeys. Then Canada voted, a panel of respected business leaders judged, and the nation got to see who really builds this country.
We were honoured just to be part of that conversation. Then we found out we'd made the Top 10.
The Surprise Nobody Saw Coming
Here's where the story gets interesting. Huumans' prize structure was locked before the campaign even launched. But when their selection committee finished reviewing the finalists' scorecards, they decided one entry deserved more... So they threw the rulebook out the window.
Right there, on the spot, Huumans created a brand-new, completely surprise award, called "The Founders Choice Award" work $5000... And they gave it to IRONHELM Fitness.

When Huumans' founder and CEO, Bill Murphy, explained why, it was the kind of moment you remember for a long time:
"Joseph didn't just submit a video. He showed up. He promoted this campaign with unstoppable hustle. He engaged directly with our team and with the Huumans community, not just as a participant, but as someone truly invested in what we are building. And then there's the part that completely blew us away: Joseph committed to donating fitness equipment right back to his local community. We didn't ask him to do that. That's just who he is. He is dedicated to his business, his brand, and the people around him."
I want every member of the IRONHELM community to read that twice. Because it says exactly what we've always believed: at the end of the day, this was never about scorecards. It's about heart. It's about showing up, for your business, your brand, and the people around you.
Why This Win Matters So Much
For a small Canadian company, recognition like this is worth far more than the prize. It's proof.
It's a national platform saying that a Canadian-made functional fitness brand from Guelph, Ontario belongs on the same stage as the best builders in the country. It's a panel of some of Canada's sharpest business minds affirming the work behind the IRONHELM Long Bar and the IRONHELM Mace.
And it's momentum we're putting straight back into the business. The $5,000 prize is being invested to help IRONHELM scale: more Canadian-made equipment, better training content, and stronger partnerships with the gyms, physio clinics, martial arts academies, and coaches who bring our tools to athletes at every level.
But the part closest to my heart is what Bill noticed first.
Our commitment to donating fitness equipment back to our local community wasn't part of any campaign pitch. It's simply who we are. We believe movement is a gift, and everyone deserves access to it, whether that's in a physio clinic, a martial arts academy, a community centre, or a living room. That commitment doesn't change because we won an award. It grows.
